While Black History is synonymous with prominent contributors such as Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali, Maya Angelou, Jackie Robinson, and Barack Obama--our online learning profiles represent other Black men and women who've made a profound impact in the fields of science, politics, law, sports, the arts, entertainment, and many other fields.
Ever since the days of slavery, education has been used as a method to quell Black children's Pursuit of Happiness. Black History laid the foundation for much of American history--and there would be no America if not for the contributions of African Americans.
New PROFILES IN HISTORY are added, periodically. Recommendations will be considered.
HISTORICAL PROFILES & PERSPECTIVES
"Aunt Clara" Brown. A community leader who aided the settlement of former slaves during the time of Colorado's Gold Rush. Known as the "Angel of the Rockies" and made her mark as Colorado's first Black settler.
Bert Williams. One of the pre-eminent entertainers of the Vaudeville era and a popular comedian for all audiences of his time. He is credited as being the first Black man to have the leading role in a film.
George Joseph Herriman. A cartoonist best known for the comic strip Krazy Kat. Krazy Kat was popular with intellectuals, artists, and critics. The comic strip was a primary influence on Charles M. Schulz of Peanuts,
